 Bump Day Blogger

Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) is seeking a Courageous Mama from the PALS community to share her story of pregnancy after loss as a Bump Day Blogger. PALS’ Bump Day Bloggers write weekly updates in real time about their current pregnancy. Fill out the volunteer application to be considered. Make sure to attach a pitch and sample blog post! Applications for this position will be accepted on an as needed basis.

Position Expectations:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A mom who has experienced the death of a child at any age, including miscarriage, stillbirth, infant, toddler, school age, or teen loss.
  • A mom who is currently in the first trimester of being pregnant after a loss.
  • Willing to write a weekly blog post chronicling your journey of pregnancy after loss.
  • Willing to share your subsequent baby’s birth story within a month of birth.

Online Support Group Moderator/Admin

Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) is seeking a member of the PALS community (currently trying to conceive, pregnant, or parenting after loss) to fill Online Support Group/Moderator volunteer positions. These moderators would be responsible for collaborating with a team to maintain the online Facebook support groups through scheduled coverage. Fill out the volunteer application to be considered. Applications for this position will be accepted on an as needed basis.

Position Expectations:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A mom who has experienced the death of a child at any age including, miscarriage, stillbirth, infant, toddler, school age, or teen loss.
  • Should at least be past the 1 year mark into their own grief journey.
  • A mom who is currently TTC, pregnant or parenting their subsequent child in the first year after a loss  or have been through TTC, pregnancy or parenting their subsequent child in the first year after a loss.
  • Add and screen members to group.
  • Review and manage content and disputes among group members.
  • Make time to schedule coverage as lead admin for the week on google calendar and be available to take the lead on admin duties during your scheduled coverage time.
  • Check in with members that display concerning mental health and offer resources to those who need further support than what can be provided in an online support group setting.
  • Contact members that display inappropriate behavior in group and address concerns.
  • Engage with members as needed to help promote and model a supportive group atmosphere.
  • Be available to group members through tagging in group or private messages addressing member concerns in a professional and caring manner.
  • Work collaboratively with other admins to address group concerns and help run a smooth supportive group.

Website Manager

Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) is seeking a member of the PALS community (currently trying to conceive, pregnant, or parenting after loss) to volunteer 10-15 hours a week as our Website Manager. This person would be responsible for updating current pages of the PALS website, creating new user profiles, creating new pages as necessary, entering guest posts into WordPress, creating and editing graphics as necessary, coordinating with other staff on content, as well as other possible website-related tasks. Fill out the volunteer application to be considered. Applications for this position will be accepted through Sunday, May 6, 2018.

Position Description:

  • Maintaining current pages on website with the most up-to-date information
  • Building the Local In-person Support Group page and keeping it current
  • Creating new pages as necessary
  • Updating the menu with new pages
  • Maintaining plugin and theme updates
  • Creating new user profiles for contributors
  • Updating the Rainbow Baby Slider
  • Bonus: Create and edit graphics for website pages
  • Other website-related tasks as we grow
  • Work with the staff team on other initiatives

Skills:

  • Significant experience working with WordPress.
  • Some knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Bonus: Graphic design/Image editing
  • Bonus: Have worked with the Avada WordPress theme

Other Expectations:

  • Have your own computer with internet (bonus: have Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Available to volunteer 5-10 hours a week
  • Respond to emails within 24 hours
  • Facebook profile so you can be added to the PALS Team Facebook group and communicate through Facebook Messenger
  • Willingness to work on a team and receive direction from the operations director and executive director

Online Magazine Editor

Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) is seeking a member of the PALS community (currently trying to conceive, pregnant, or parenting after loss) to volunteer 10-15 hours a week as our Online Magazine Editor. This person would be responsible for final edits and formatting of contributor articles, updating SEO keywords for each article, making sure each article has appropriate images, entering guest posts, publishing each article on its scheduled day, coordinating with other staff on content, as well as other possible online magazine-related tasks. Fill out the volunteer application to be considered. Applications for this position will be accepted through Sunday, May 6, 2018.

Position Description:

  • Making minor edits (check spelling, grammar, etc.) to finalize contributor articles
  • Formatting contributor articles to fit PALS guidelines as well as optimize for search engines
  • Updating SEO keywords for each article
  • Making sure each article has appropriate images–occasionally needing to find or create images for an article
  • Maintaining consistency with article image placement, size, etc.
  • Entering guest posts into WordPress
  • Coordinating with our Social Media Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator on posting schedule
  • Bonus: Create and edit graphics
  • Bonus: Creating new user profiles for contributors
  • Other online magazine-related tasks as we grow
  • Working with the staff team on other initiatives

Skills:

  • Excellent editing and communication skills
  • Some experience working with WordPress.
  • Some knowledge of HTML and CSS

Meet-Up Leader

Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) is seeking members of the PALS community (currently trying to conceive, pregnant, or parenting after loss) to lead monthly PALS Meet-Ups in their communities. These leaders would be responsible for locating a space to hold monthly meetings, managing the local meet-up email inbox, sharing the meet-up information with local doctors offices/hospitals/community groups, and sharing meet-up event information in the PALS Facebook support groups. Training for this position is offered and required. Fill out the volunteer application to be considered. Applications for this position will be accepted on an as-needed basis.

  • Locate a free meeting space to hold the Meet-Ups in your community
  • Plan and hold monthly PALS Meet-Ups in your community
