About Kasey Schultz-Saindon

Kasey Schultz-Saindon is a psychologist who lives in the suburbs of Chicago, IL with her husband, Eric, and their puppy. Kasey and Eric began their journey towards parenthood in July 2016. They have lost two baby boys at 20 weeks gestation, the first in November 2016 and the second in October 2017. With the help of genetic testing and incredible medical providers, the genetic mutation that affected their baby boys was identified. Kasey and Eric were able to utilize IVF to transfer an unaffected embryo, and they are hoping for their rainbow to finally arrive in March 2019. Kasey has been incredibly grateful for the support of the pregnancy loss and pregnancy after loss community throughout this journey and is excited to share her experiences during her third pregnancy.

Kasey’s Bump Day Blog, Week 37: The Stress Before the Rainbow

Eric and I enjoyed getting another opportunity to celebrate this baby with more of our family and friends this past weekend. As I wrote about last week, it has been nice to be able to feel all of the love and support for us along this journey. These baby showers have helped us to celebrate [...]

Kasey’s Bump Day Blog, Week 36: Feeling the Love

Thirty six weeks. I can’t believe that we are finally here, with just 4 weeks until my due date. When I say that I can’t believe we are FINALLY here, I mean it just that way. I don’t mean that I can’t believe we are here. I don’t want to give the impression that in [...]

Kasey’s Bump Day Blog, Week 35: The Pain in Preparing

Preparation in pregnancy after loss brings with it really conflicted emotions. A few weeks ago during our birth class, we were confronting emotions related to our past experiences with the end of pregnancies as we also looked forward, preparing for the birth of our third baby. This mix of emotions was incredibly present at our [...]

Kasey’s Bump Day Blog, Week 34: Pain and Joy

We attended our birth class last weekend, and it was exactly what we needed. The doula who taught the class was as much focused on preparing emotionally for labor and delivery as she was on teaching techniques for coping with pain. It was helpful for Eric and I to have to deliberately plan for what [...]

Kasey’s Bump Day Blog, Week 33: Moving Forward

Planning and preparing has continued to move forward this week. Shower planning is in full swing, and gifts have started to arrive from friends and family who can’t attend. We will be attending our birth class this weekend. I have made progress on the baby’s quilt. The nursery is painted and the furniture that we [...]

Kasey’s Bump Day Blog, Week 32: Preparing and Reflecting

At 32 weeks, the discomforts are increasing, sleep is very interrupted, and I am feeling more tired than I have been for a while. At some moments I feel like the remaining eight weeks until my due date are not nearly enough to logistically get ready for this baby. I am aware of all the [...]

Kasey’s Bump Day Blog, Week 31: Another New Year Watching Families Grow

Last year around New Year’s I wrote in my journal about how hard the holidays are while grieving. At that time, we had been grieving for two years of holidays in a row. In 2016, I had imagined being pregnant at Christmas. My idea of this was more picturesque than real life, but I was [...]

Kasey’s Bump Day Blog, Week 30: Stockings, Names, and Elephants

I made stockings for Eric and I a few years ago.  For the past two Christmases I have debated about whether I wanted to make stockings for Danny and Lentil. We have ornaments for each of them, but I never ended up adding stockings to the fireplace. This year, I finally decided that I wanted [...]

Kasey’s Bump Day Blog, Week 29: Mixed Emotions

This was a big week that has contained a mix of feelings for me. I started out feeling great about finally being in the third trimester. I was enjoying this new milestone. I felt like we were finally getting close to making it through this pregnancy and this baby joining us. We started registering, had [...]
